How do I prepare GATE -EC in 8 months?

8 months is decent time to prepare for GATE. Before you start preparation, go back to 11th and 12th maths and basics of your core engineering subjects.

I followed following strategy, It may help you.

1. Cover the topic wise theory from each subject and make notes (If you join coaching, this can be done class itself).
2. Practice the previous year questions and solved examples from reference books.
3. Go back to solutions and analyze the mistakes.

I am sure, most of us cann’t solve all the problems in first attempt. Repeat above procedure for first 5 months.

Next 3 months, you need to revise notes and practice practice practice !!!!Take decent test series and make a strategy from you strong and weak areas.
