M.Tech in Machine Learning / deep learning / artificial intelegence (AI).

In recent times everything under the sun is experimenting with machine learning and deep learning. In coming days these areas shows significant impact in transforming the economy (industry and employment). To compete with this fast moving area one has to improve skills and abilities to adopt such new challenges.

Many of the esteem institutions in India are already offering various courses in this field. M.Tech Especially specialization machine learning. In past, we have seen a lot of craze to VLSI, embedded systems and communications etc. Now it is time for machine learning or AI, the premier institutes like IITs, IISc and IIST are already running the M.Tech in machine learning courses. Going one step forward the institutes like IIT Hyderabad and IIST are already offering M.Tech in machine learning. Even though the other IITs and IISc are not offering M.Tech in machine learning but they offering the various course in the department of computer science and electrical engineering. Apart from IITs, the institutes like IIIT Hyderabad also leading in machine learning. IIIT Hyderabad is also offering certification courses in collaboration with Talentsprint  and IIIT Bangalore is offering in collaboration with Upgrade.

The whole signal processing community is shiftting form traditional signal processing prospective to learning based techniques. The areas like Computer vision (image and video processing), speech and text are ganing lot of attention from machine learning procespective. So, what I mean to say even if you join the specialization where you deal with images, videos and speech, there is bright chances to get expertices in machine learning and deep learning.

Comming to the most common question is how are the placements? The answer is simple if you see any recent job notifications, the important skill that they are looking for the candidates who have the understanding and hands-on experience with stuff related to machine learning. Based on my observation, every company is trying to catch the machine learning and deep learning bus. So, there is good job market.

In this post, I would give the details about the eligibility, course structure, duration and other details about M.Tech in machine learning.

1. IIT Hyderabad is offering M.Tech in machine learning jointly with Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments. It is a new initiative from IIT Hyderabad. The course is blended version of theory and practicals. Mostly it will be emphasize on application of machine leaning to speech, image and video processing areas. If you have GATE Score in EC, you will get degree from EE department and if have GATE Score in CSIT, you will get degree from CS department.

Eligibility: GATE EC/ GATE CSIT
Duration : 2 years (4 Semisters).
