Electromagnetic theory is rank deciding subject in GATE. As you know, many of us feel this subject as difficult one. But, it is one of the easy subjects to score maximum marks. The reason to say this subject as scoring, we can observe the previous year questions which are very predictable.

1. Waveguides (2marks)
2. Transmission lines(2marks)
3. EM wave polarization(1mark)
4. Wave incidence(1mark)
5. Maxwell equations both integral and differential form(1mark)
6. Antenna and wave propagation.(1mark)
More or less the weight-age to this subject is around 7 to 8 marks. Almost every year there are two 2 marks questions from waveguides and transmission lines.

While preparing for any difficult exam, it’s not just the subjects that matter but also mentality and dedication of the student. While preparing for GATE exam too, this must be kept in mind. As for study guides and materials, the internet is filled with such resources. I’m studying for MPRE exams and I also downloaded many MPRE Practice Questions from a reliable online source.
