How to prepare for GATE Electronics and Communication Engineering(ECE)?

About GATE:

Gate is an exam conducted by IISc/ one of 7 old IITs every year in the month of Feb and results will be declared in March. In previous years the exam was full Multiple choice questions, but recent years they have introduced some questions as filling the blacks with the help of virtual keyboard.The exam is conducted for 100 marks which contain 85 marks from core Engineering subjects & Engineering maths and 15 marks from English and Aptitude.

There is negative marking for the wrong answer which is 1/3 of allotted marks of that particular question. There will be no negative mark for filling the blanks question and second question of linked answer questions.

From engineering subjects 25 one mark questions and 30 two marks questions will be given in the exam. In English and Aptitude section, 5 one mark questions and 5 two marks questions will be given in the examination.

Coming to preparation, in GATE examination, they test basically fundamental concepts and their applications. One need to spend the qualitative and quantitative time to make concepts clear. After having a clear understanding of syllabus and concepts. Here previous years question papers help you up to what breadth and depth one needs to study.

One more important thing is revision before the exam, Whatever the knowledge we have one should translate on the day of the examination, so that revision is must for success in GATE. So prepare short notes and solve previous years questions.

GATE ECE preparation:

Before starting preparation for GATE ECE, one should know the syllabus, required reference books and extra study materials like previous year papers. Most of the time, the question in GATE ECE are conceptual and logical. If one has good conceptual clarity and extensive practice of previous year GATE and IES questions, then the success chances are very high.
